Child Development Program Director Permit

A Child Development Program Director Permit authorizes the holder to supervise a child care and development program operated in a single site or multiple sites; provide service in the care, development, and instruction of children in a child care and development program; and serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development in a child care and development program.

  1. CTC Educator Profile with full LEGAL name

  2. Completed CTC fingerprints
  3. OFFICIAL transcripts verifying qualification
    • Official transcripts MUST be sent directly from the university to the Credential Specialist assigned to the first letter of your last name (see chart below)

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Child Development Program Director Permit, individuals must satisfy all of the requirements listed in one of the following options:

Option 1
  • Bachelor's or higher degree
  • 24 semester units of ECE or child development including 3 core areas of "CUR", "CFC", and "CGD"
  • 6 more semester units in administration and supervision of a child development program
  • 2 or more semester units in adult supervision
  • 1 year child development site supervisor experience
Option 2
  • SC1A Credential
  • 12 semester units in ECE or child development
  • 3 semester or 4 quarter units of supervised field experience
Option 3
  • Elementary teaching credential (TC2/STCA/STCC/ GT2/GT1) or secondary in Home Economics
  • 12 semester units in ECE or child development
  • 3 semester or 4 quarter units of supervised field experience
  • 6 semester units in admin of ECE or child development
Option 4
  • Master's degree in ECE or child development

Additional Information
Once FCSS verifies that all requirements have been met, a recommendation will be sent to CTC for approval. CTC will send detailed instructions to the email listed on your CTC Profile after you have been recommended. The fee for the permit is $102.65 paid by Debit or Credit.
Applications are processed in the order received. Once you submit your application to FCSS you will be sent a link to view your application at any time. Once your application has been completed and the recommendation has been made, you will receive an additional email from Informed K12 of the completion status. At that time, you will also receive the email from CTC to finish the recommendation and pay.
